For those of you that snore as much as I do, it can cause problems for the poor people that try to sleep around you. Some marriages have even come to an end due to excessive snoring by one of the partnership. Taping your mouth shut is one common way to deal to help you deal with this annoying habit.

Snoring has a number of health risks associated with it according to many studies, including a recent Henry Ford study of 913 patients.

Not only do we need to worry about being a nuisance to others, but we also need to think about our own health.

One method that can get good results is the taping of the mouth, to encourage nasal breathing.

Breathing via the nose

Fortunately, there is some light at the end of the tunnel.

By breathing through the nose the likelihood of snoring is greatly reduced.

Aside from reducing snoring, there are additional health benefits related to breathing through the nose including:

  • Less exertion
  • Better brain function
  • Lower heart rate
  • Shorter recovery times
  • Better endurance

If you have got into the habit of breathing through your mouth, try to train yourself to breathe through the nose instead. It can do wonders for your health.

Best way of taping the mouth

The skin around the mouth can be very sensitive so you don’t want to just use any kind of tape.

One of the best products available for taping the mouth closed are
Sleep Strips by SomniFix.

For a cheaper option you can look at using Surgical Tape.

To actually tape the mouth is not a difficult procedure. By using snoring strips, or a sensitive tape, you simply tape your mouth closed and go to sleep.

If you find this difficult to do, try taping your mouth closed whilst you are awake, to begin getting used to breathing through your nose. Gradually increase the time you do this for until you become more accustomed to it.

Best wishes towards a more peaceful sleep.
