Halloween is just around the corner, and it’s that time of the year when you can be whoever or whatever you want to be – so set your imagination free.
Think out of the box, and ensure that you are one step ahead of the rest.
Everyone loves a great costume, you just have to get a little creative.
Moreover, you don’t even have to spend a bomb on these – with a little ingenuity, you can create anything at home.
However, a DIY project can be taxing, and we understand that you may not have too much time on your hands.
So we suggest that you take all the help you can get – and by ‘help’, we mean duct tape.
It comes in a wide range of colors, is affordable, and extremely durable – which makes this the perfect Halloween lifesaver. Using this, you can create elaborate costumes, or even just add the finishing touches.
This is a great way to make stitch-free garments, and it essentially the most important product in your costume-making toolkit. So here are a couple of awesome duct-tape ideas to help you out this October 31st.
The classics never go out of style.
With those fancy hats, pointed shoes, flowy robes, and a broom, you can embody the true spirit of Halloween! Once you get your gown together, you can make the hat out of thick paper (if you are looking to save money). But the shoes – those are the important part. Isn’t this what Dorothy used to get back to her uncle and aunt?
Yes, the shoes are very important indeed, and all you need to make them is an old pair of ballet shoes or kitten heels, some thick cardboard, and duct tape.
Use the cardboard to make the protruding point, and get it together with the tape. Now wrap a couple more layers to give it the crumpled effect.
Make sure to cover the whole show when doing this, you don’t want your craftsmanship to be criticized. This will also make it a lot more durable to last you through all trick or treating. Additionally, if you want to give it a little more sparkle, just take some glue and glitter it all up!
Become the superhero you always new you were. Even if the store doesn’t have this costume available last minute, you can make one for yourself pretty easily.
Now this is where those incredible duct tape colors can really come in handy. You can make a corset using duct tapes and an old tank top in a jiffy.
Just remember to layer the tape on multiple times in order to ensure that it lasts you through the night.
But if you don’t know how to do this, YouTube is a godsend. Here, you can find multiple tutorials to guide you through the process.
Moreover, if you’re into something a little more elaborate, you can now use your skills at making duct tape corsets to fashion a creative adaptation of one of the adorable Disney princess dresses as well.
However, if you want to make something a little less elaborate and a little less feminine, how about we go with one of the most addictive games on the planet?
This is the perfect last minute costume for those of you not looking to put in way too much effort. All you need is a shirt (preferably black – so that the tape stands out) and some really colorful duct tapes.
Cut up these strips into squares and place them like tetris blocks. Duct tape has a strong adhesive, so it’s sure to last you the night. Once you’ve got this ready, you’re good to go – just remember to put on some pants before leaving.
If you’re still not settled on a costume, your search is finally over. Waldo could be your answer. This isn’t an elaborate costume, but needn’t look as simple as Tetris either.
All you need is a white shirt. Strip it up with some red duct tape and a red beanie. Now complete the costume with some striped knee-high boots.
However, we understand that these aren’t easily available, and have very limited uses. So just create them using your ordinary shoes with some thick white paper and that red duct tape you just used.
And there you go – Here is Waldo!
